[edit] What is the Vanagon Wiki?
The Vanagon Wiki serves as an easily searchable central repository for the accumulated knowledge of the Vanagon/T3 enthusiast community.
[edit] Why a Vanagon wiki?
There is plenty of information out there on the Vanagon/T3, but it's spread all over the place. The Vanagon Wiki is an attempt to put the answers (or at the very least pointers to them) all in one place with simple navigation and efficient search capability.
[edit] Why not just search the Vanagon list archives?
The Vanagon Wiki grew out of growing frustration with the general inaccessibility of the Vanagon mailing list archives. With over a dozen years collective wisdom in the list archive, it contains the answers to nearly any question imaginable about the Vanagon/T3. unfortunately the list archive is, as mailing lists tend to be, completely without any organizational structure, being essentially a stream-of-consciousness record. The only means of finding information are through a keyword search that times out if the query is too complex, too common, or covers too great a time span. Additionally, the archive on Gerry requires internet access. Conversely, the Vanagon Wiki can be saved locally and accessed on the road, where internet access is unavailable.
[edit] What about copyright issues?
The Vanagon Wiki is for the most part just a collection of facts with a few quotations for clarification. Given that the intent of this wiki is to promote the free flow of information and is run with absolutely no profit motive and funded completely out of the wiki administrators' own pockets, it is hoped that the spirit of community will prevail over any issues of "intellectual property." Should there arise any issues regarding copyright, contact the wiki administrator and the material in question will be removed.
[edit] Who can write or edit the Vanagon Wiki?
You can. Anyone who registers can write a new article, correct or complete an existing article. If you have technical expertise and want to share it, feel free to contribute to what is hoped will become an organic, growing body of Vanagon know-how and tips.
[edit] Who runs the Vanagon Wiki?
John Bange, Michael Elliott (AKA Rocket J Squirrel), and Sudhir Desai are the current three conspirators guilty of the crime.
