[edit] Summary
Propex Heatsource furnaces are thermostatically controlled, externally vented, forced air heaters fueled by propane gas. Propex furnaces are popular among Vanagon Westfalia owners because they are able to heat the interior of the van quickly and maintain a specified temperature. They are fuel efficient and can be fed by a line from the existing propane tank. The combustion gases are externally vented reducing the chance that operating the heater will deprive the interior of the van of oxygen.

[edit] Instructions
[edit] Advantages
1) Easy installation if you don't have a rear cabinet air conditioning unit.
2) The heat comes out right where you need it.
3) It requires very little usable space.
4) The air recirculation path is around the back of the cabinet near the rear hatch. In the heat of the summer I can put in a hatch extender, and leave the propex on fan mode. This draws in cool air from outside through the rear hatch and keeps the inside of the van much cooler.
[edit] Disadvantages
1) Installation requires removing the back cabinets which can be difficult for those with air conditioning.
2) With the rear table in place, the space under it can become hot.
3) Difficult to access the heater for maintenance without removing the back cabinets.
